Johannesburg, November 2020 – Global smartphone brand vivo mobile has partnered with leading visual artist Trevor Stuurman to put to work the brand’s claim of Redefined Photography with the vivo X50 Pro.

The X50 Pro’s features such as it’s X60 zoom, various portraiture modes, and in-built gimbal stabilizer enabled Trevor to capture award-winning fashion designer, Sindiso Khumalo, as she unpacked her creative process in an intimate setting.

He spent time with her in her Cape Town Studio, visited her CMT and discussed what it means to be an award-winning African creative on the global stage. Khumalo is the recipient of the 2020 Independent Designer of the Year at the Green Carpet Awards and has, like Trevor, been featured numerous times in Vogue and WWD.

With the help of vivo this was the first time these two creatives worked together and the result, alongside the diary unpack, was a high-fashion editorial. Photographed at The Dorp Hotel in Cape Town, these images were inspired by the sisterhood of Frida Kahlo, and were all shot on the X50PRO showcasing the extraordinary camera capabilities of the mobile device.

“The image quality is amazing,” says Trevor. “I don’t know another phone that offers this at the moment – it’s like having a professional camera in your pocket.”

“Trevor was the immediate choice to showcase the ground-breaking features of the phone,” says Hawa Hyath-Saloojee, Marketing Director of vivo mobile SA. “Trevor is no stranger to taking his expression and creativity global. As a young South African creative, he not only inspires others to think big, he also provides masterful expertise when it comes to image making and capturing moments. His choice helps position vivo as the tool of choice for industry-leading creatives.”

Whether it’s capturing selfies, creating dynamic videos using Gimbal or taking photos of everyday family life the X50PRO allows everyone to Redefine Photography.

The Trevor Stuurman partnership will roll out for November with images from the Sindiso Khumalo collaboration running through digital, social and PR.
