Worldwide Confirmed COVID-19 Cases Reaches 1 Million, Over 51K Dead

The coronavirus pandemic has reached a grim milestone with one million confirmed cases worldwide. This on the heels of 900,000 confirmed cases just one day ago. World Health Organization Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he's "deeply concerned about the rapid escalation and global spread of infection," adding, "[o]ver the past five weeks, we have witnessed a near exponential growth in the number of new COVID-19 cases, reaching almost every country, territory, and area."
According to figures compiled by Johns Hopkins, there is a total of 1,011,490 total confirmed cases with 52,863 deaths associated with the virus spanning 181 countries/regions.
