Vivo Y11 (2019) Review: High-end performance at a budget

The Vivo Y11 launched in October 2019 helps Vivo maintain a comfortable presence in the budget to mid-range smartphone market as it packs quite a punch in performance which is one of it’s main highlights.

The Vivo Y11 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage that can be expanded via microSD card..The Vivo Y11 runs Funtouch OS 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie. The Vivo Y11 measures 159.43 x 76.77 x 8.92mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 190.50 grams. It was launched in Agate Red and Mineral blue colours.

It comes with a Li-Ion 5000 mAh, non-removable battery. It features a 6.35 inches IPS display with 720 x 1544 px resolution. The IPS technology is one of the most leading LCD technologies. The Vivo Y11 has a pretty great HD plus resolution display even though Full HD resolution would have been great the quality of this display is still pretty good.

Camera

As far as the cameras are concerned, the Vivo Y11 on the rear packs a 13-megapixel primary camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a second 2-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture. The rear camera setup has autofocus,  Autofocus fine-tunes the focus of the camera, which quite is a nice feature of this smartphone. It sports a 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies, with an f/1.8 aperture. The 13 MP main camera lets you take photos and videos in a quite high resolution. You may be a little dissatisfied with it in some situations, such as when you want to capture scenery in very high resolution, but this should not be an issue you run into very often.

The 8 MP pixel front camera, is of standard level. It's perfectly fine for taking good quality selfies

Connectivity

Connectivity options on the Vivo Y11 include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth v4.00, Micro-USB, 3G, and 4G. Sensors on the phone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass/ magnetometer, proximity sensor, and fingerprint sensor. The Vivo Y11 supports face unlock which is insanely fast, it even works pretty well in low lighting conditions and complete darkness unlike most phones in it’s price range

Battery

The Vivo Y11 comes with a Li-Ion 5000 mAh. One of the highlights of the Vivo Y11 is the long battery life, the smartphone comes with a power management system and with regular use the phone gives close to two days of battery life. This is also a  low maintenance battery and no periodic discharge is needed and charging can be done at random. You can play a comparatively large amount of 3D games with next to no issues.

However on the downside there's no fast charging on this phone but it definitely makes up for it with the battery life.

Navigation Gestures

Once you enable this feature you can swipe from the bottom center to go home swipe in hold for recent apps swipe from the left side for control center and finally you can either swipe from the bottom right side or swipe from the left side or right side to go back a step these are the new navigation gestures and they work really well.

You can also pull down the notification bar using the fingerprint scanner. Enable this particular toggle and once you're done you can do a swipe down on the fingerprint scanner to pull down the notification bar once you're done you can do a swipe up gesture to close, this a pretty handy feature for quickly checking your notifications.

Dark mode

Once you enable this feature it turns all the UI elements to a dark theme and the phone looks much more cooler. Dark mode theme helps against eye strain especially at night. Once you enable the dark mode some of the stock applications like the phone dialer and SMS application also automatically change their theme.

Ultra Game mode

This is an application that simply lists all the games that are available on your phone in a pretty cool user interface, it also gives you complete stats of your gameplay like how long you've been playing the game, how much data it has consumed and more. There is also 4d game vibration a brand new feature especially for gamers once you enable this feature your phone vibrates differently for different motions during gameplay.

With so many mid-range and budget phones out there the Vivo Y11 is a little hard to parse and it definitely gets a thumbs up from Techreport.

  • You can comfortably watch videos and play gamesdue to the large screen
  • Due to it's large battery capacity, it is good for hours of watching videos and playing games.
  • The CPU specs are high and usingeveryday apps is almost always stress-free.

If you are looking for a high performance, good quality budget phone that looks and feels premium you should definitely look into the Vivo Y11.

Keep an eye out for an update.
