16 AUGUST 2021 – The World Source Marketplace for Global Business Services (gbs.world), an online marketplace for buyers and service providers of business services, launched to a worldwide audience today.
GBS World lists service providers across 12 categories in 70 countries on six continents. It offers buyers more than just a search-and-match service. Companies that want to source any range of business services will find various tools to assist in their decision-making processes. These include consumer and industry research, location analyses and benchmarking, and profiling of service providers. Business-to-Business (B2B) sourcing and advisory services are also available through GBS World on demand.
GBS World is the brainchild of Mark Angus, CEO, researcher and strategist of Genesis Global Business Services. He co-founded the business and the marketplace via a joint venture between Genesis Analytics and specialist research company Knowledge Executive.
"We already have almost 1,000 service providers profiled on the marketplace. We built extensive benefits into our offering based on the best available research on what buyers of business services really want," he says. "We knew we had to address every need if we were to succeed at creating a comprehensive global marketplace." Angus adds that GBS World has been used for some time by a select group of industry leaders to test the marketplace's value and useability. Tester's feedback has been built into the system to ensure an exceptional user experience for all.
Surveys conducted by Knowledge Executive and Ryan Strategic Advisory detailed the pain points buyers experience when they need to outsource to service providers. Their wish list included authentic service provider reviews and qualification metrics, enough market intelligence to decide on the best onshore, offshore or nearshore delivery points, and a central location to publish tenders and requests for proposals (RFPs). Above all, they wanted to know that they were making the best outsourcing decisions for their budgets.
"We also learned that business service buyers often want to discuss their options with qualified sourcing consultants and industry analysts, so we provide that service as well via strategic partners," says Angus.
GBS World has benefits for service providers too. Research into this side of the market uncovered a need to understand their true value proposition and find better ways to build solid pipelines and routes to market. They also wanted to understand what different industries required from business service providers to ensure their offerings would meet market needs.
GBS World offers service providers a free basic profile and then three validation upgrades with additional benefits accruing at each level:
- Verified, which includes access to requests for information (RFIs) and marketplace listings.
- Accredited, including an in-depth operational assessment and an analysis of key capabilities and expertise.
- Certified, which goes so far as to conduct benchmarking audits and financial due diligence validation.
The Accredited and Certified programs run in partnership with international sourcing firm The Knowledge Group (TKG).

On the other side of the equation, buyers can review service provider profiles and send RFI queries. Additionally, they can access a host of free services, including publishing notices for requests for proposals (RFPs), thought leadership content and industry webinars, and e-book editions of GBS buyers reports; all details evident in the research on their needs.
Buyers can access value-added services when they need them and only pay for what they need. This includes in-depth service provider and location profiling with matchmaking assessments, pricing analyses, extensive research including various benchmarking and pricing surveys, and in-depth buyers reports.
Country and city trade and investment associations and industry bodies also have their place in GBS World to promote their region as an outsource destination. "Industry bodies and trade associations work hard to promote their countries as global business delivery destinations, and now they have a central location to showcase their value proposition and house their country reports and market analyses for serious buyers to consider."
