Telecom Egypt to host Huawei’s first public cloud in Egypt

  • Telecom Egypt, the country’s primary telecommunications service provider, and Huawei Cloud have entered into a strategic partnership to establish Huawei’s first locally based public cloud platform in Egypt to boost the country’s digital transformation strategy.
  • Reports indicate that the public cloud platform will be hosted in Telecom Egypt’s data centres, allowing it to reach more than 60 countries globally by utilising over 14 submarine cable systems. The cable systems are expected to be boosted to 18 by 2025.
  • The collaboration is in line with the telecom company’s strategy to make Egypt a go-to regional hub, advancing the development of cloud computing and digital services.

In addition to hosting the cloud, the Egypt-born telecom company will utilise its extensive network and expertise to integrate Huawei Cloud solutions with existing infrastructure to ensure a hitch-free transition and management.

Huawei Cloud claims it provides businesses with comprehensive scenario-based solutions and over 240 advanced professional services, including cloud construction, migration, utilisation, and management.

The cloud service provider says it wants to offer businesses in Egypt a secure and reliable cloud environment so they can focus their time and energy on innovation and growth.

In the last 20 years, Huawei has built a strong presence in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) regions. Its latest cloud venture with Telecom Egypt is expected to further establish the company’s profile as one focused on the evolving needs of the market.

With this new public cloud, Egypt-based businesses across various industries will have unfettered access to advanced cloud solutions to drive e-commerce, live streaming, and sharing economy, to mention only a few.

Additionally, launching the cloud is expected to create job opportunities for young people in Egypt and several other countries in North, West and Central Africa.
